How to audition
Meet and Greet
Performers with a disability who are new to Stars and the Moon
April 21 – 28
Before auditions, we ask guardians of performers with a disability to attend a meeting with the Stars and the Moon team. This will allow us to get to know the performer and their needs a bit better. The performer’s attendance at the meeting is welcomed but not required
This meeting is required for participants who weren’t part of last years cast and optional for those who were. Meeting times are limited and booked separately to auditions.
*Please note that attending a meet and greet does not guarantee a spot in the cast. In order to facilitate a safe environment that meaningfully caters to everyone’s needs, if we cannot adequately meet a performer's needs, they will not participate in the show.
All performers are expected to attend a vocal/acting audition and a dance call . We know that not everyone will be technically proficient in all three skills and that’s okay – just show us what you can do!
It is a requirement that all performers review the production schedule and are available for the majority of rehearsals and every date during the production week including all four shows.
Please read the below instructions carefully as they may differ from last year.
April 24 – May 1
Venue: Leibler Yavneh College 2 Nagle Ave, Elsternwick 3185 (Performing Arts Centre)
The vocal/acting audition involves two components:
Prepare 1 minute of a song, that shows off your performance and acting ability in the style of The SpongeBob Musical. A character breakdown can be found here. A speaker will be available in the audition if you are using a backing track.
Download and prepare Scene 11: Jellyfish Fields reading as either SpongeBob or Sandy.
April 24, 10 - 11:30 am
Venue: Leibler Yavneh College 2 Nagle Ave, Elsternwick 3185 (HaMerkaz)
All auditionees must attend a group dance audition. You don’t have to prepare anything for the dance call, just come wearing comfortable clothing you can move in, and runners/sneakers/jazz shoes. Bring a water bottle!
Our choreographer will run a fun warmup and stretch, and will then teach you a short dance routine, which you will perform in small groups.
The dance call will be lots of fun, high energy and upbeat! We are looking for people who are willing to give it a go and try their best – we want energy more than technically proficient dancers!
May 8, 3:30 - 9:30pm
Venue: TBA (Glen Eira Area)
We will send specific audition material to each person we would like to see for this round. Receiving a call back means we need to see more of you in order to find the right role for you in our show. Receiving or not receiving a call back does not bare any indication for the role you will be offered in our show.
Notification of the outcome of your audition will be in late May 2022.
